Staff Nurse (Registered General Nurse)

Elmhurst Nursing Home in Glasnevin is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our team on a maternity cover contract, starting immediately until the beginning of May, with the potential for extension

 

Working Hours: 7* 12 hours shift per fortnight - Monday to Sunday

Location: Elmhurst Nursing Home, Hampstead Avenue, Ballymun Road, Glasnevin, D09 XNV2 

Contract Type: Specified purpose – Maternity Cover 

Start Date: Immediate

End Date: 11/05/2026 (with possibility of extension)

 

Reporting Relationship

The post holder reports to the respective Clinical Nurse Manager in their immediate assigned location and is ultimately accountable to the Director of Nursing.

 

Role Summary

The staff nurse works as part of the nursing team and is responsible for maintaining and delivering a high standard of nursing care under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing. The nurse will be expected at all times to maintain a high standard of professional practice and ethical responsibility while continuously developing their clinical expertise, leadership and teaching skills. Nursing practice will be guided in accordance with the standards and professional codes as outlined by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), HIQA and the Regulations and Codes outlined by HIQA.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifications and/ or experience

Candidates must:

         Be authorised to work in Ireland – no work permits will be issued for this role*

*         Be registered on the General Nurse Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

*         Be very familiar of HIQA functions and standards

*         Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

*         Maintain annual registration with NMBI

*         Be flexible in relation to work pattern

*         Have a clear, open and friendly communication style with the ability to respond quickly and appropriately across a variety of situations

*         Have excellent communication and organizational skills

*         Have a clear commitment to person-centred care and strong interpersonal skills

*         Have fluent spoken and written English
